Holy macaroni! This challenge almost broke me! Haha. I started working on it late at night, and that was part of the problem I'm sure. Maybe there is a better way, but I created a large circle with a sharply-defined linear gradient. I created three circles for the hollows and positioned those on top of the circle. I can't remember what I tried before that, but it reeeally wasn't working.
